20 More Oscar Lewks

How about one final red carpet posting. Herewith 20 more gowns from the Oscars (well, looks... a few women wore pants) to gawk at... from the non-nominees this time and with a few comments thrown in. Who was your Favourite?

Emilia Clarke, Elsie Fisher, Charlize Theron, Amandla Stenberg, Constance Wu

Did Charlize ever think Aeon Flux while putting this together? Is Elsie Fisher a Royal Tenenbaums fan?

Awkwafina, Laura Harrier, Michelle Yeoh, Tina Fey, Kacey Musgrave

I'm still frustrated Michelle Yeoh couldn't get any Oscar traction for Crazy Rich Asians. People have been nominated for soooo much less, and for inferior reasons than "wow, what a long career and look, she's in a smash hit!"

Jennifer Hudson, Brie Larson, Dame Helen Mirren, Cicely Tyson, and Alison Janney

OKAY #1. I dont know if this will be controversial but imho Allison Janney has NEVER looked sexier.

OKAY #2. At TFE HQ we were absolutely enraged that Cicely Tyson didn't even get to stand up and take applause for her Honorary Oscar win. It was bad enough when they demoted the legends off the broadcast but in years past since doing that they've at least let them stand up and soak in applause or something. They got one passing mention with a super quick camera pan -- we barely even were able to look at them.

BAD FORM, OSCAR PRODUCERS, BAD FORM.

Queen Angela Bassett, Christine Lahti, Nadine Labaki, Danai Gurira, and Leslie Bibb

Yes we said non-nominee gowns but including Nadine Labaki due to Oscar's stupid loophole that the directors of Foreign Language Films aren't actually the Oscar nominees. This rule bugs so much because everyone knows that the country of Lebanon did not make Capernaum, Nadine Labaki made Capernaum. Uff.

Anyway, who was your best dressed among these non-nominees? Or perhaps it was someone we neglected to include (oops)?

Allison and Charlize are my two favorites.

The fitted long-sleeve dress is my favorite silhouette in Hollywood. So underrated!

Charlize looks like mid 90's Madonna there!

Fisher and Theron!

I really liked Michelle Yeoh's dress, bravo to Cicely Tyson (she likes hats too) and Helen Mirren.

100% agree - The Academy really needs to improve the situation with their Honourary Award Winners. Give them a chance to come out and take a bow, or televise the governors awards.

I think as i've stated before the Oscars should honour people who have passed in a more fitting way than a 5 second clip of one of their most known roles a la Albert Finney this year,it's just not enough to know someone like Nicholson,Pacino,Fonda,DeHavilland,Loren,Eastwood,Close,Dench will pass and a 5-10 second clip at the Oscars will sum them up.

Allison Janney. WOW

I also loved Lahti and Zellweger at the Vanity Fair party.

Fisher
Yeoh
Gurira
Mirren (and this picture makes her & Momoa's comments about not matching on purpose make more sense - they did not read as matching on my screen during the show)

Stenberg's dress is fine - if you look for closeups of her hair it's incredible.

Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren are my favorites, by a considerable margin.

But I also thought Fisher, Harrier, and Yeoh looked quite good.

I thought this year was great for fashion. Janney looks fantastic. Ditto Helen Mirren. I really like Emilia Clarke. The dress that did not quite work for me was Charlize. It seemed ill fitting and not very flattering except from behind. When did Brie Larson become so skinny?

It's so good to see Christine Lahti. Looking good, girl!

Michelle Yeoh would have made a better Best Supporting Actress nominee than anyone in that category other than the winner! But she made up for it by turning it out at the ceremony.

I also liked her CRA costars, Danai Gurira, Bassett, and Fisher. I missed having Lupita present as she always makes my best-dressed list - I had to google photos of her this year.

Mmmm.... Charlize....

I heard she got jealous that other women kissed Guillermo from Jimmy Kimmel. Guillermito? How could you?

That color on Charlize with the dark hair is amazing.

It seems like there were a lot of Oscar-winning actresses in attendance this year. By my count, 7 Best Actress winners (Colman, McDormand, Stone, Larson, Theron, Roberts, Mirren) and 6 Supporting Actress winners (King, Janney, Spencer, Weisz, Nyong’o, Hudson). Am I missing anyone? Did Whoopi end up going?

That seems like more than are usually there! What a great collection of actresses.

Gemma Chan!

That dress looked good on Charlize from the back and ok from the side, but was a mess front on. Everyone I was at a viewing party with thought it was a mess. Was surprised to see some people thought she was among the best dressed
