That is an absolutely shitty assessment of Bond movies. It's the kind of contrarian nonsense that makes writers pat themselves on the back for being so clever. Recommending The Man With the Golden Gun? Are you NUTS?

I'm sorry but any list of 7 great Bond movies that doesn't include From Russia with Love is an idiot. I liked The Man with the Golden Gun despite the fact that it was a messy film with some tonal issues and its attempt to latch on to the kung fu genre in order to be relevant which it didn't need. If anything, if one was to put one or 2 films starring Roger Moore as Bond. The Spy Who Loved Me and For Your Eyes Only are the best choices as he is my mom's favorite Bond.
A true Bond fan would watch all the movies. Even the bad ones usually have something to recommend. Although George Lazenby is not one of those things Diana Rigg is.

They even have an order! It seems pretty well presented and if I were to ever get into the Bond films, I would try this instead.

Here's my expert opinion:
1) If you want to experience and enjoy a Bond film but you're pretty sure they're not your thing, watch Casino Royale (2006). It is unarguably great, and it is the most accessible film for a new audience. People who don't have never seen a Bond film and never want to report liking this one.
2) If you want to steep yourself in a classic espionage-oriented Bond film and you like classic movies, watch From Russia with Love (1963). It is my personal favorite, it is gorgeous, it has a great caste including Lotte Lenya and Robert Shaw, and you won't regret it.
3) If you want to understand Bondmania and the phenom that swept the world, watch Goldfinger (1964). This one introduced many of the tropes that have become associated with Bond, including the gadget-laden Aston Martin, Pussy Galore, huge, magnificent set design, a bit of ridiculousness, and a heart-stopping theme song.
4) If you prefer a light, comedic, but still thrilling style, and want to see one of the greatest stunts ever committed to celluloid, watch The Spy Who Loved Me (1977). It's the one with Jaws, the original XXX, and an opening sequence that has to be seen to be believed.
everyone -- yeah, i thought the tone of this article was weird but i'm not enough of a bond expert to know if it was way off base in terms of personality. Though I did thing the dismissal of DR NO was weird.
