Team Experience Emmy Reactions

Hope y'all aren't done talking about the Emmy nods yet. Abe, Cláudio, Juan Carlos, Chris and myself got together to share our reactions to Tuesday's Emmy nominations. From our disappointments about the snubs (sorry about Small Axe, Cláudio) to our individual joys (Carlos remains the world's biggest Handmaid's Tale fan) and our suggestions about how to improve the system (I explain why ranked ballots are the only way to go in the conversation).

Have a watch and share your own reactions, now that the dust has settled.

  • Which snubs are still irritating you?
  • Which shows will you know be watching to see what the big deal is?
  • Who do you think will win the hot-hot-hot miniseries category?
  • Who are you rooting for?

The brick wall is very butch.

Agree with Nathaniel on the Maya/Anna performances in PEN15. Both should have been nominated because they are genius.

Small Axe missing is a major snub for me. Also, Marielle Heller, who gave one of my favorite supporting performances of the year.

A big YES to "I don't want to resent things that I think are great..."

I think Emmys should add "best foreign TV series" as a category, because, honestly, some of the best TV shows airing/streaming right now are not American productions.

Mare of Easttown is going to win everything; it's that universally lauded (But I'm still on the Happy-Valley-is-far-superior wagon)

This horse has been pulverized at this point, but those Hamilton acting nominations are absurd. Marielle Heller, Weruche Opia, and Shaun Parkes all should have been in those spots. They could have still nominated Daveed Diggs for his excellent Frederick Douglass in The Good Lord Bird (which should have also have those two lead actor spots as well for Ethan Hawke and Joshua Caleb Johnson). While I loved WandaVision as much as the next person, it did not need three writing nominations when The Good Lord Bird and Small Axe were both right there.

That is very good and can you let us know when will you be doing the 94th Academy Awards nominations predications please?

@Pam - Don't they have International Emmy Awards?

As for the questions:

Snub: Marielle Heller. I was upset she didn't get a SAG nomination -remember when three actresses from Temple Grandin were unnecesarily nominated?- so you cannot imagine how this snub got me.

Show eager to watch: Lovecraft county! It seems awesome.

Miniserie for the win: I guess it's going to be Wandavision. Three nominations for writting? Are they that in love with the show? It seems so. If not best Miniserie, then I believe Elizabeth Olsen is winning.

Rooting for: The Boys for best drama serie!! It's my currently obsesion on TV. Could it win at least best song? Also, I'd love to see Michael Kenneth Williams taking that Emmy.

@J - oh, yes, that's right. It's not part of the televised Emmy nominations, comes out later, so I forgot.

The almost total shut out of SMALL AXE is sad.

Also... How is it RATCHED didn't get an Art Direction nod or cinematography?

Being a bit shallow here - so that is what Nathaniel looks and sounds like in video, voice is much lighter than I envisioned and appearance much younger than the still - he looks marvelous. Claud - Hmmmm.
