Incredible celebrity impressions are after the jump plus Jessica Chastain's Oscar buzz, Olivia Colman's awards magnetism, anti-vax celebrity problems, and more...

Shout out to all the cool kids who’ve made not watching Ted Lasso a load bearing part of your personality. You’re super cool. We see that now.

We really shouldn’t take for granted how remarkable it is that Olivia Colman — an actor who couldn’t even get arrested by BAFTA ten years ago for staggering work in Tyrannosaur — is now the kind of awards-show mainstay whom people, well, take for granted. Just so glad for her.

I would also watch a Pablo Larrain drama about Kristen Stewart gulping and flinching her way through the chaos of awards season.

It feels inevitable that one or more actors in contention might derail their Oscar chances by pulling a Nicki Minaj and revealing their ignorance about vaccines. My bet is Jared Leto.

That's okay, you do not need to finish the sentence, it will be a total waste of your time and mine, move along, thanks.
Everyone was so right, the closer I get to 30 the less I care what anyone thinks. And I already cared so little 🥺🥳

I’d be shocked if proof of vaccination weren’t required for attending the Oscar ceremony, so celebrity anti-vaxxers will likely not even be allowed in the building. Although I genuinely don’t think any of this year’s major players will encounter that problem. Frankly—and I say this as a musician myself—it seems like it’ll probably be a bigger issue at the Grammys.
Sorry, double post.
I'm dying of laughter because of the impressions. Hysterically funny.
Since the MCU is exploring the multiverse, how much money are they going to pay Jennifer Coolidge to play Wolverine because honestly. Give her $25 million plus a major percentage of the profits if that ever happens.
If Jennifer Coolidge is about to have an Olivia Colman type awards run then I'm here for it. Can Michelle Yeoh be next? Which other under rewarded actress should get her turn?
Sounds like HBO is becoming more versatile lol.

sorry duplicate post
I think Emma Corrin deserved to win.
I'm sorry, but I'm willing to die on the hill of "Frances McDormand is nowhere near ready to be a 4 time Oscar winner. __________________ doesn't even have one Oscar yet."
And does Jessica Chastain really have a chance? I haven't talked to anyone who's come close to liking that film. When was the last time someone won a lead actor Oscar for a film widely dismissed as bad when the voting was taking place? (I know there are examples where later, people realized, say, "Damn. MONSTER'S BALL actually sucks." That's a bit different.) I'd say KStew is looking pretty good for the win right now.
@Dan H- Did *anyone* think Bohemian Rhapsody was good?
With her Oscar for producing Nomadland, Frances McDormand is already a four time Academy Award winner.
If she fails to receive a fourth Best Actress prize for The Tragedy of Macbeth, her next project in which she produces and stars, Women Talking, sounds promising. The film examines a group of women in an isolated Mennonite religious colony in Bolivia as they struggle to reconcile their faith with a string of sexual assaults committed by the colony's men. The film is written and directed by Sarah Polley. Claire Foy, Rooney Mara and Jessie Buckley join McDormand in the cast.
Frances McDormand is looking at her I'm Drastically Overrated record like
.
Also, KathArine Hepburn, ShaneAvery.
Bohemian Rhapsody - 49 metacritic
The Blind Side - 53
The Eyes of Tammy Faye - 59
Judy - 66
I'd say Chastain is just fine. FWIW I liked Tammy Faye far better than all of these other films. The criticism has been a bit harsh IMO.
Greg F -- i liked it better than all of those, too. I knew it would be an easy target critically though. The Bakkers were ridiculous and not all critics really think films (and their subject matter/tone) through all that well
With a possible Best Actress line-up of McDormand, Chastain, Gaga, Colman, and Stewart, some folks sure will be pressed this year!
Love Nicki Minaj so much <3 very intelligent lil lady
Loved the impressions!
I'm curious about Eyes of Tammy Faye, but I live in a very red area so going to the movies is a no-go, sadly.
@Ryan T, etc. Most of my friends loved BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY (and thought I was a snob and a buzzkill for disagreeing.) It was a huge box office hit, even if the critics didn't go along. Same with THE BLIND SIDE. It was huge. As for JUDY, well, RT is a pretty blunt instrument, and my memory is that there was, say 34% who didn't give it positive reviews but they didn't exactly HATE it either, hence the weak positive rating. On the other hand, the 41% who dislike EYES really dislike it. On the other hand, the positives on EYES are mostly "barely kind of like it" while the positives for JUDY were stronger. Some people really liked it quite a bit. (It was also a weak year on the actress side.)
Also playing Judy Garland well gets you more points than playing Tammy Faye Baker.
@Greg F. Never let your own personal reaction to a film color your predictions. If I did that, I would have been the fool going around saying "CHILDREN OF MEN is destined to win Best Picture" in 2006 and "Tilda Swinton has Best Actress locked up for WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN" in 2011.
Hey, when I said all last fall and winter that I really doubted Boseman would end up winning best actor you all laughed.... Here's you chance to listen to reason again. ;).
(I mean Chastain COULD happen, but if I had to bet on anyone at this early stage, which is not advisable as it's still September, I put $50 on Stewart.)
