Happy Easter!

Have a joyous day. What are you planning to watch? Besides Easter Parade which is a given.

High marks for the over the top riverbank Easter eggstravaganza at the finale of Steel Magnolias

Whee! Ann Miller, classified as the fastest tapper ever!

Apparently Gene Kelly was supposed to be the male lead in Easter Parade, but he broke his ankle(?) so they brought in Fred. I think it’s better with Fred, because Gene (in retrospect) looks a little mean to his leading ladies and Fred is so kind and protective of the vulnerable Judy.

As I’ve mentioned before, my perspective on the movie has changed over the years. Now I like the Ann character better than the Judy character (heresy I know). Ann’s character is independent, financially astute, confident, a hard working professional who is great at what she does, enjoys life, and plans sensibly for the future. (Although I hope she ditches Peter Lawford, ugh).

Ann Miller should have gotten a supporting actress nomination for that movie.
