Off to see "Thor: Love and Thunder"

TAIKA WAITITI AT THE THOR LOVE AND THUNDER AUSTRALIAN SPECIAL EVENT SCREENING SYDNEY AUSTRALIA 27TH JUNE 2022. © Scott Ehler for Getty ImagesWish us luck!  Kidding. The buzz is strong with this one...

Despite not personally enjoying the first two Thor movies (very low on the Marvel quality scale) Thor Ragnarok was delicious and Taiki Waititi returns for another round as writer/director. He's been the right voice for taking Thor seriously by way of not taking the Norse God seriously. Review coming on Tuesday July 5th when the embargo breaks. The movie opens in theaters on Friday, July 8th.

How would you rank the Thor franchise within the overal franchises within the MCU? We'd go something like so...

  1. Captain America (4 films)
  2. The Avengers (4 films)
  3. Iron Man (3 films)
  4. Spider-Man (3 films)
  5. Ant Man (2 films)
  6. Doctor Strange (2 films)
  7. Guardians of the Galaxy (2 films)
  8. Thor (3 films) will it move up after 4?

Crazy to realize how many characters are still waiting on a second feature since it seems like there have been more than 28 films. And given that they're now filling in with tv series, it seems less likely that all that many haracters will get multiple solo films now.

I am more interested to see if they really show Thor's butt and is there a cameo from Rene Russo as Frigga in a flashback?

I felt that she was underused in the first 2 films and Endgame really gave Russo a hell of a performance proving why Frigga is one of the great characters in the Thor story as the show Loki showed exactly why Thor and Loki thought so highly of her because she brought the best in both of them.

actually the first Thor was pretty great, if you ask me, considering they were going into an unexplored territory and tried to have the right tone... the second was somewhat messy but the third was - if you ask me - worthy of above-the-line Oscars consideration (specially adapted screenplay) and a complete riot. Expectations over the roof with this one.

thevoid99 -- they do show Thor's butt, yes. It's a good beefy butt. there are flashbacks to previous films but they're over in a split second.

Only 3 Captain America movies so far.

I'd go:

1) Iron Man
2) Guardians
3) Ant-Man
4) Avengers
5) Spider-Man
6) Captain America
7) Thor
8) Dr Strange
