The podcast has been hibernating for so long that you've surely forgotten it exists. But last week Nathaniel and  Nick jumped on a quick phone call to discuss the Globes so the Podcast is...uh... back for a moment. For those who aren't subscribed, we figured we'd share on the blog in case you missed it and feel like listening in on one last "precursor" conversation before the Oscar nominations are announced!

So glad to have you two back podcasting! Nathaniel, I completely agree about Nick's Letterboxd - so addicting! And your comment about enjoying artists celebrating other artists really resonates - also one of my favorite things about all this.

I can't wait for the impending Film Bitch Award nomination announcements, but I'd be so curious for another 2019-style Oscar ballot from you, Nick! It's such an unusual year for supporting actressing, especially, and I'd love to know who your favorites have been.

I used to enjoy predicting what clips they'd use then seeing others opinion of what single scene or beat in a performance deserved the clip slot.

Great conversation - but Nick being blind to the talents of Barry Keoghan, of all people ... that's jarring (although hey, we all have our own tastes and reactions, of course). That said if Great Freedom is in his top 5, well, love that. It's good to know his usual good taste remains mostly intact. ;)

The Oscar nominations are like Christmas morning. But we got a present early with this podcast.

So refreshing to hear some love for the Globes ceremony. Those speeches really were special and you don’t always get that kind of energy at the Oscars where the winners may have already given five speeches in the past three months. (Also Nick’s English Patient/Binoche shoutout “I don’t know anything” killed me.

On pins and needles for the Film Bitch award nominees/Nathaniel’s official Top 10. But this was a lovely preview.

And definitely agree—Nick’s Letterboxd is beyond addicting. Although I hope people also check out his site NicksFlickPicks.com (so elated it’s being updated again) where his past posts, Personal Favorites section and colossal Best Actress Project offer such rich, fascinating reviews. Most Film Experience readers are probably already familiar, but if you haven’t checked it out, you’re in for a major treat.

a) I'll echo everyone's anticipatory excitement for the Film Bitches and the delight at the preview.

b) Also echo on just how addictive Nick's Letterbox'd is - following the week by week/year by year watches with delight

c) Five(ish) films from 2022(ish) - I feel somewhat defensive of Babylon already even if I agree with the commonly cited flaws. I'm pissed off that Benediction couldn't do better with critics/box office etc - it doesn't even have a physical media release this side of the ocean. Haven't seen Panahi Sr.'s latest, but Hit the Road from his son is amazing (Pantea Panahiha should be on everyone's best actress shortlist). Strange World is a surprisingly delightful animated adventure (wouldn't call it great, but its flop this year was depressing). Didn't love Aftersun but am curious to revisit it.
