W Magazine's 2016 Best Performances

Chris here. Have you seen this year's W Magazine "Best Performances" spread yet? Each year the photo collection features Oscar hopefuls and breakouts alike in one massive treat, and this year is as sprawling as ever. Previous years have ranged from the avant garde to the candid, but this year seems to spark inspiration straight from the loins. No seriously, its actually titled "Come Together", winks at gender and self-love, and recalls 90s lesbian chic supermodels on more than one occasion.

Beauty Break: Jude Law

Jude Law is 44 years old today and what better way to shake off the blues than to appreciate extremely vivid talent that's still very much with us and has always comes in such delicious wrapping? Next up for Jude Law is the intriguing but-who-knows HBO series The Young Pope.

But until then we gawk at the beauty for with Jude Law the beauty never ends, no matter what phase of life he's hit or what character he's lurking within. He began as callow twinks, moved into suave young guns, aced the sexually promiscuous twenty-something swingers and wounded thirtysomething romantic. And now he charms whether purposefully going to seed or cleaning up real nice in middle age.

We've loved him since his film breakthrough in 1997 (Wilde, Gattaca, Bent). Twenty years later after offering up many great performances and generous eye candy to his fans, he has yet to give us a reason to stop. Much beauty to gawk at after the jump...

Beauty Break: Ruth Negga For Vogue

Chris here with some leading lady gorgeousness. We're big fans of Ruth Negga's Loving performance here at The Film Experience, and hopeful for her Oscar chances in a crowded Best Actress year. Regardless of whether or not she is one of the eventual five nominees, you can bet on Ruth continuing to serve a fantastic fashion game all season long.

And wouldn't you know, she's on the January cover of Vogue! In the interview (after a stunning spread with costar Joel Edgerton in the November issue) the actress describes Loving as a "before and after" role for her, still a bit reserved to her newfound attention. But how can we not be in awe of her with a performance like this and her laidback charm - not to mention her fashion prowess! Check out the photoshoot after the jump...

Beauty Break: Adele Covers Vanity Fair

Chris here with some diva worship - nothing like detoxing from the spooky excess of Halloween with something truly otherwordly. Before she (likely) earns another heap of grammy nominations for her third album 25, Adele is on the December cover of Vanity Fair.

Per her hilariously glib usual, Adele gives great quote in the interview, off-the-cuff with everything from her post-partem depression to money to finding levity in a tour of "miserable" songs. And the buried gem of the article is her aspiration to play Mama Rose "like when I'm 50."

I mean, with combined powers her voice, chutzpah, and intensity: why not? After all, Adele is a likely future EGOT - an Oscar for Skyfall, 10 Grammys (and counting) and an Emmy nomination already on the books, so Tony could easily be in the cards for her songwriting or this Gypsy pipe dream. In fact, it's a little surprising her sense of humor hasn't yet brought her some comedic bit part or sketch piece - she'd have been a hoot in the string of cameos in last summer's Ab Fab movie!

Take a look at the gorgeousness from the photo spread:
