“Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” S1 in Ten Songs

With Crazy Ex Girlfriend returning Friday evening for Season 2, here's new contributor Jorge Molina surveying season 1's songs

Season 2 premieres Fri 10/21 at 9 pm on The CWMaking a Top 10 Best [blank] is pretty much impossible. Top 10s are never final, accurate, or objective.

So I decided not to do one.

After all, how could I rank and, even worse, decide on the best musical numbers of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’s amazing first season? They all represent a different aspect of the show, and it would be unfair to compare them on equal terms.  So I instead came up with a compilation of what are not necessarily the ten better numbers, but the ones that best showcase the show’s style, tone, and humor. What would be in a “Crazy XGF 101” course.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (S1. E15-16)

Dancin' Dan back again to cover the next two episodes of the EMMY AWARD WINNING Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

Yes, it's true! At the Creative Arts Emmys, our favorite musical comedy TV show won two trophies: Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing For A Comedy Series (for the pilot episode) and Outstanding Choreography (for the numbers I'm So Good at Yoga, A Boy Band Made Up of Four Joshes, and Settle For Me). CONGRATULATIONS, SHOW!

But now, back to the business at hand. This time out, Rebecca learns something with a little help from her friends, and embarks on an attempt to make healthier choices in her life.

S1. E15: "Josh Has No Idea Where I Am!"

After running away at the end of last episode, Rebecca falls asleep on her plane to New York and is visited by a "Dream Ghost" vesion of her therapist, who takes her on a journey through her past. Meanwhile, no one else knows where Rebecca is, prompting lots of panicking back in West Covina.

Let's rank the crazy!

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (S1.E11-12)

Congratulations to Rachel Bloom for winning "individual achievement in Comedy" for Crazy Ex Girlfriend at the Television Critics Association Awards today!

As we continue our Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 1 recap, we finally come to the place where we all knew things were headed right from the pilot: Rebecca finally makes such a massive error that Josh realizes that something's not right. And there's no way she can avoid it.

S1. E11: "That Text Was Not Meant For Josh!"

Rebecca mistakenly sends a text meant for Paula to Josh, and rushes out to save herself by deleting the text before Josh sees it, while Paula attempts to rekindle the spark in her marriage...

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (S1.E9-10)

Dancin' Dan back with the next installment of our Crazy Ex-Girlfriend season one recap. This time out, Rebecca and Darryl experience the acute anguish of trying to make friends as an adult. Let's rank the crazy of the next two episodes.

S1:E9 "I'm Going to the Beach with Josh and His Friends!"

Hoping to expose Rebecca once and for all, Valencia invites her to a "classic crew" beach outing. In classic bottle episode fashion, long-simmering tensions among the crew begin to boil over...
