"Werk Werk" The Beguiled does Hamilton

You may think you didn't need to see Colin Farrell doing his best hair flip to "The Schuyler Sisters" from Hamilton, but you'd be wrong.

Our hearts are bursting. It turns out the little girls of The Beguiled made a Hamilton lipsync video while goofing around on set to accompany a donation to Lin-Manuel Miranda's "immigrants get the job done" coalition (we mentioned the contest the other day)... May this challenge others to donate, too! Oona Lawrence leads us as Aaron Burr, with Emma Howard as Angelica, Angourie Rice as Eliza, and little Addison Riecke as Peggy.

You may think you're loving the video in the first minute but wait til the rest of the stars start popping up. Everyone is in this! Heaven.

Everything's Coming Up Kiki

By Spencer Coile

For many of us Kirsten Dunst fans, her performance in the second season of Fargo was a peak in and of itself. She had turned in exquisite performances in the past like Melancholia, but a collaboration with Noah Hawley in the Fargo universe was a different step in Dunst's career. Her Peggy Blumquist picked up rave reviews, and awards nomination, and she ended the year as part of the winning SAG ensemble of Hidden Figures. Now it would appear that 2017 will continue on with more beguiling Dunst projects as if the comeback has only just begun...

Bask in the Glow of "The Beguiled" Poster

Chris here. Like I'm sure many of you will relate, Sofia Coppola's The Beguiled is among my most anticipated of the Cannes lineup. The festival kicks off this coming Wednesday, but we'll have to wait for these repressed southern ladies until the back half of the festival according to the just released festival schedule. Cry not, readers, because we'll be hearing about Todd Haynes's Wonderstruck right out of the gate.

Also to dry your tears is a brand new poster in all its gauzy glory to knock you sideways - literally:

Red Carpet: Best Dressed Women at the Oscars

Here's Jose with best looks from the 2016 Academy Awards...

And on Oscar Sunday Meryl said "let there be fashion", and then there was fashion.

The 2010's should not only be remembered for being the decade in which the greatest living actress earned her record-breaking 20th nomination, but also as the decade when she found a red carpet style that fit her iconoclastic image as both the Grand Dame of American cinema and someone who wants the world to think she "woke up like dis". In 2017 she even had her very first fashion feud (paging Ryan Murphy) when she had a PR battle with couture supervillain Karl Lagerfeld over a Chanel dress that was to be worn by no one (perhaps we will see Nicole wear it at Cannes someday?) In the end Meryl showed up in a statement-making Elie Saab couture creation in deep regal blue that combined pants with a ballgown, perhaps a nod to Hillary and the ultimate dig at T**** who believes there is only one way for women to "dress at work"?

PS: She also forgave Karl.

Following in Meryl's magnanimity this year I present you my favorite looks from the Oscar red carpet unranked...

Yes No Maybe So: "The Beguiled"

#vengefulbitches forever

The teaser for Sofia Coppola's remake of The Beguiled (2017) is upon us and it is glorious if surprisingly faithful. In fact, if you watched the original 1971 movie with us during the last season of Hit Me With Your Best Shot you'll be hard pressed to spot many immediate differences beyond of course the new cast. Nicole Kidman takes the Geraldine Page role (we worship Kidman but good luck topping one of Page's juiciest star turns), Colin Farrell gets the Clint Eastwood wounded womanizing soldier part, Kiki steps in for Elizabeth Hartman, and Oona Laurence (who was so good opposite Gyllenhaal in Southpaw) plays the Pamela Ferdin role.

If you haven't yet seen the trailer or would like to watch it again (I'm on round 5) it's after the jump along with a short "Yes No Maybe So"...
