We're doing things a little differently this week listing both box office and top movies in streaming from a few services because why not. (Let us know what you think). Sadly, despite plentiful signs that people are willing to go back to movie theaters, the studios just aren't putting enough movies in theaters. Only 8 movies are currently in wide release. Pre COVID there would sometimes be over 20 movies in wide release in a single week...

Body swap comedies aren't all that rare, but it's not common that they manage to delve into complex subjects like gender identity. That is very fortunately the case with Homebody, an entertaining 75-minute adventure that finds nine-year-old Johnny (Tre Ryder), who is already in the process of questioning their gender, transplanted into the body of babysitter Melanie (Colby Minifie). We got to chat with the delightful and enthusiastic Minifie about what drew her to this project, the fun experience of making it, and even got some details on what's ahead for her character on The Boys! Homebody is screening virtually as part of NewFest through October 26th, with an in-person screening in Prospect Park this Tuesday.
Last year, Succession was pretty far out front, and it feels like this year’s juggernaut, The Crown, has just as easy a path to victory. But this category does include a varied slate, welcoming back two past nominees, two freshman series, one sophomore show, and a handful of extremely high nominations totals. It’s worth looking a bit more closely at each of the top-tier nominees, many of which we’ve covered extensively in our category-by-category analysis.
