Red Carpet Globes: Crazy Helena, Peachy Stone, Powerful Fonda

You thought I forgot about the Red Carpet Lineup for the Golden Globes didn't you? No... I'm just moving a bit slowly after that March of the Handsome Penguins. Why do I punish myself to make things pretty? "Do you even care about the pretty?" he screams into the virtual abyss, clawing at the heavy comment door.

Oh... and, uh, Merry Christmas?

CZJ, Sweet Lips, Globe Hopper, "Peggy"

Maybe that's why Tilda wished everyone Happy New Year from the stage. So many holiday gowns staring up at her.

What was with all the green? Is that what they call "on trend"? Green is my favorite color, give or take purple (The Joker is my color wheel) but that's a lot of green even for me. What to make of Elisabeth Moss's sculpted butterfly wing bosom? Meanwhile Angelina Jolie looks very Dynasty (that's a compliment) and Mila "Sweet Lips" Kunis finally steps up the glamour. Here's hoping she really breaks out on Oscar's red carpet, whether or not she's nominated. You know she's the kind of high profile young draw that they'll invite to present if people feel she's been snubbed.

And now we come to a category called Trying Too Hard.

Lea Michele, Jennifer Lawrence, Olivia Wilde, January JonesLea Michele is weirdly exactly like Rachel, her Glee character, on the red carpet. She obviously NEEDS the attention ( I feel you, Lea!) and she is always always "posing" and wearing yards and yards and yards of fabric. In fact, sometimes I wonder if it's elaborate performance art because her poses are exactly like the kind one makes in one's mirror whilst dreaming of becoming a celebrity and walking the red carpet: Here's Sexy, Silly -gotcha! (I'm so versatile), now Sultry and goddess walk... Strut!; Jennifer Lawrence is going to be an exciting red carpet fixture (if her career goes well) but she seems a bit young for this look -- wouldn't you love to see Julianne Moore in that?; Olivia Wilde (Tron Legacy) was obviously going for the "wow" but there's something about it that's too obvious. And the hair with that dress? Doesn't work; Finally I really admire January Jones perpetual riskiness on the red carpet but this one is just crazy: boobs in bondage, bold red dress, black shoes, half dress underneath fringe???

But believe it or not I actually mean "trying too hard" as a compliment. At least they're trying! (I'm typing this while wearing purple longjohns, bright blue socks and a burgundy sweater. I look hateful color blind or maybe homeless. But it's laundry day. I never try.)

Do any of you feel Helena Bonham Carter was trying too hard?

I think she's one of the best dressed personally because it's out there and she kept posing with her feet crossed as to draw attention to her color clash shoes. In this way it's her own swan dress... albeit less avant garde rock genius and more eccentric cat lady down the street.

And now, a category that really requires your input.

The 'I'm Not Sure What To Think Of This' Bunch.

Julianne, Michelle, Natalie and EmmaJulianne Moore is one of the most beautiful women in the world and as the least color cautious redhead in the world one must always look forward to what she wears. But I think this color maybe is an error for her. What say you?; When I first saw this gown on Michelle Williams whilst live blogging I made a dumb joke about her wearing a shower curtain and then I laughed heartily at Wesley Morris's tweet

Michelle Williams is playing Carey Mulligan in 'The Mia Farrow Story'

But the more I look at it the more I am weirdly in love with it. I also hated Natalie Portman's ensemble at first but aside from the nightmarishly large and way too red applique to end all appliques the color of the gown is beautiful and both hair are makeup is perfect. Maybe it's nitpicky to hate the rose but the rose is really trying to be the whole look; Emma Stone's dress has an insanely beautiful line and it makes her look so serene in her new blazing stardom. But the color with her skintone and her new hair? Not sure.

What's your verdict?

Okay on to Unbest Dressed

don't understand any of these choices.

I complained about Sandra B's bangs, Halle's Demi-Moore inspired skirt and Megan Fox's slit up to her crotch during the live blog . Regarding the latter, this picture is too flattering -- it went way up there. Not classy. It's not like the guys walk around with their shirts open down below their belly button). The color is also all wrong;. Julia Stiles looks like a saloon girl in mourning; Jacki Weaver who I love love love (don't forget) seems to just be heading out to some special work dinner rather than a glamorous event. Although to be fair I guess this is a special work dinner for celebrities. Maybe if the dress had been longer?

Now there were far worse looks than this but I was trying to restrict myself to movie celebrities.

BEST DRESSED
Here are my choices. I think the key word is "effortless".

Hathaway, Kidman, Jolie, Steinfeld, Fonda

If you've seen Love & Other Drugs or, have eyeballs, you know that Anne Hathaway has a killer body. This year, especially, she seems to be loving it. I thought this dress was made of shiny buttons at first and then I heard CDs but even if it's only garden variety sequins supersized, I just love it; Nicole Kidman IS the glamour. The dress is but accessory; Between Angelina Jolie and legendary Jane Fonda I guess shoulder pads are back. Both of them look like the divas they are but I especially love that Fonda's is a bit sci-fi. Barbarella, bitches. Or as Claire Danes might say "HOLLA" ; And finally, consider me mortified that Hailee Steinfeld is already an old pro at dressing for the red carpet. She has not yet put a foot wrong, nor has she repeated herself. And she's a novice! What the hell is going on?

Agree or Disagree, tell in the comments. Who was your single best and worst dressed?

I know you're wearing your fashion police badge.

Honestly, there was something so Black Swan about Natalie's dress to me. The rose just seemed like a real bloody heart on her dress. Idk lol. I'm weird.

Nicole looks good there, but idk about the color with her skintone.

Oh Jacki, sweetie...good lord. What's on the front of that dress? She could've done so much better. She better dress well at the Oscars since she'll be nominated (wishful thinking)!

Halle could wear anything and she'd be drop dead gorgeous. Anne Hathaway too.

Mila is so sexy! Damn.

January 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterPhilip

Did Jane Fonda's right nipple make an appearance Sunday evening ?

January 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterWilliam

WHERE IS TILDA?

January 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterDylan

Angelina was my best dressed in that green sparkly Dynasty meets Joan Crawford magic...

The Bonham is so damn cool it doesn't matter what she wears. This fits her personality perfectly and I love it. Second best for me.

Worst is harder, no one stood out to me as an outright failure this year. Halle Berry is probably the closest because that biker shorts in lingerie thing is just yuck. We know she can do better!

January 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterRobet

Seeing Angelina and The Fonda in the same picture like that makes me realize how they both look like they just walked off the set of "Dynasty" (big shoulders and all). I kind of loved both, though. Not a fan of Jacki Weaver's dress, but I appreciate that it looks like something Smurf Cody might actually wear (unless I'm remembering incorrectly, that dress Smurf wore to the funeral in Animal Kingdom was a little on the trashy side).

For my money, Lea Michele definitely needs to make the leap from the "trying too hard" to the bonafide worst dressed list. It just doesn't look finished. She also loses points for getting all telenovella EVERY time the camera was on her during the telecast.

Lastly, I will always love Helena Bonham Carter on the red carpet, if only for picking up where Sally Kirkland left off.

Emma Stone looked fantastic - that dress was perfectly cut. Simply amazing.

Portman's dress and bizarre laugh during her speech made me shake my head.

Also, was it just me or did Annette Bening receive the only semi-standing ovation of the evening ? k

January 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterWilliam

Loved Emma Stone's dress, but agree with you. That hair is doing her no favours. She looks like Kate Bosworth *cringe*

I actually really love Angelina Jolie. I usually find her so bland in the fashion sense, even when she wears colour (she's as frequent as Aniston when it comes to monotone fashion), but that dress is so divine and alien. I love it.

Halle is my worst dressed because it's so "look at me all sexy" when really its so incredibly far from it. Put you clothes on, Halle.

January 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterGlenn

Without even realizing I was doing it I just started clicking in a fury on "Who cares? As long as she gives Chloe Moretz nightmares." CLICK CLICK CLICK A THOUSAND TIMES CLICK.

And I would so so depressed if Helena Bonham Carter ever showed up on a red carpet not looking like someone was gonna drop a house on her. May we never have to live through that.

Emma Stone was my fave. Just wow.

January 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJA

I think Emma's dress works really well, somehow - the fit is gorgeous at least. And it's the first time I've liked the hair, which looked sort of platinum. Ages her a bit, but I'm warming to it. (Although she best go back to red as soon as humanly possible.)

Odd that you say Michelle looked like she was wearing a shower curtain - I made the same observation about Hathaway. That is just not a good fabric.

I didn't know who Olivia Wilde WAS before this, but her dress was rather magnificent - it at least supplied laughter when Robert Pattinson had to lean over it to reach the microphone as they presented.

January 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterDave

I agree with everyone in your "trying too hard" section -- especially Olivia Wilde. She always wears dresses like this and is one of the first ones on the red carpet so she has a full 2 hours to prance around. lol.

Halle Berry's look was also very attention-seeking. We get it, Halle... you look good in mini-dresses. You can put the twins and the legs away for once.

My best dressed of the evening was Catherine Zeta Jones. I thought the color looked great on her, and she carried the dress really well.

Hailee must have a great stylist! I wish other teen stars consistently looked as stylish (and age appropriate) as her!

January 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterBK

Catherine Zeta Jones was definitely #1 for me. She owned the Field of Green--dramatic yet understated--and reminded me of Ava Gardner.

Tilda's eccentricity and Hathaway's glamour were runner-ups.

HATED Fonda's pseudo-'80s look and Bullock's goth-meets-Aunt-Hortense style.

January 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterPaul Outlaw

Philip -- see a bloody heart on her gown woulda been amazeballs. if you're going to go for it, go for it.

Robert -- yeah, it's weird that Halle flubbed it because she is usually so gorg'

William -- her standing O seemed a little halfhearted. but i think DeNiro got the same halfhearted standing O.

JA -- thought you'd like that. ugh. Chloe Moretz.

In the trying too hard category i wanted to put EVA LONGORIA from Desperate Housewives but she's TV she just looked so trashy like 'UH-OH, CHristina Hendricks and Sofia Vergara have too much vavavoom, I gotta show them what's what'

January 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterNathaniel R

Angelina makes me giggle. She looks like a villainess who arrives midway through the film to f--k up everything for the main character. She does look nice though. Nice color and good change from the usual black.

I guess Emma Stone's my favorite. That color kinda works even if it's one shade away from her skin tone. I like Nicole too (well, duh.) but i did think it was kind of boring. She used to BRING IT (yes, it needed the capitals) to these awards shows.

For example,
http://www.celebritywonder.com/picture/Nicole_Kidman/nicolekidman_085.jpg
BAM!

January 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterDerreck

Emma Stone's dress is stunning, but too similar in color to her skin tone and hair I think. I have the same issue with Nicole Kidman--a light dress on ivory skin makes her look ghostly. Hair and makeup were fabulous though.

I'm a fan of Sandra Bullock's bangs, but not with that dress, which calls for a softer, more romantic style.

I understand where Jacki Weaver was going with this. She's rather small, so a longer, more dramatic dress would devour her. Don't love the print on it, but I like it when celebs under-dress for awards shows. Sally Hawkins' super short dress with minimal jewelry and Julia Roberts' understated black dress with a simple necklace were two of my favorite looks from last year. Big, poofy dresses with long trains and cascading ruffles feel so obvious, y'know?

And Helena Bonham Carter can do no wrong in my eyes.

January 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMike M.

Oh, and Eva Longoria--despite the near tumble on the way to the microphone--was in the top 5.

January 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterPaul Outlaw

and oh, i know Lea Michele annoys me but she does look cute,

but in the past few days looking at different fashion pics, i've noticed that people REALLY hate her.

January 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterDerreck

During one episode of The Rachel Zoe Project (don't make fun!), Rachel talked about how Jennifer Garner felt uncomfortable wearing a super dramatic dress to the Oscars when she wasn't nominated for anything. I feel like this is a lesson Olivia Wilde has yet to learn. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I think an admittedly-beautiful statement dress like that should be reserved for the nominees. I don't think she has really earned the right to try to upstage the grand divas yet.

January 18, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterrosengje

Okay completely OT but is it just me or shouldn't the countdown read "6 Days, 8 Hours... left", while it says "7 Days, 8 Hours..." that would mean next Wednesday.

January 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterOT

I always think Lea Michele looks awesome. This dressed kind of looks like one that Cameron Diaz wore a couple of years ago in white (anyone remember?).

My pick is Mila Kunis for best, with Emma Stone second ( if the colour had been something like a regal blue, it would have been amazing). And I was so disappointed in Halle Berry. She looked like a prostitute. I really liked the flower theme she had going in 2001-2002 with the Globes and the Oscars. In fact, her Oscar winning dress is one of my favorites of all time. Simply stunning.

January 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMike

Oh and I thought Amy Adams looked fabulous as well.

January 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMike

CZJ for the win, easily. I did really like Kidman. I'm worried that I have to place Sandra B. last, which no one wants to do, but there you have it.

I'm not making a joke here: I think Halle's bananas outfit was a kind of nod to her schizophrenic character(s) in Frankie & Alice. If that "dress" doesn't have a split personality.... But that's the sort of "idea" that a designer on Project Runway would get all excited about, Tim Gunn would try to shut down, the designer would make anyway, and then Nina would set on fire, with one imperious glare.

January 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterNick Davis

Is it just me, or does Megan Fox look like she weighs, like, 90 pounds? You were already gorgeous; there's no need to starve yourself!

Seeing Emma Stone as a blonde reminds me of Lindsay Lohan's hair experimentation all over again. Being a redhead is a gift! Don't change it, even for Spider-Man.

Lea Michele was CRACKING ME UP with the waterworks. I wouldn't be surprised if she lost her composure when Carlos was announced. She was emotional about everything!

And I thought January Jones looked great. Essentially, she was wearing a "boob dress", and her boobs brought their A-game. The black shoes were kind of weird, though.

January 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterThomas

@Thomas - Emma Stone is actually a natural blonde (as is Christina Hendricks!)

January 19, 2011 | Unregistered Commentercaroline

Does anyone else think that Sandra looked kinda glum at the globes?? I was expecting something a little funny, or charming, to come out during her presentation, but nothing. She seemed like a different person. Maybe she's having bad memories from last year and her troubles, but she has been super all year so who knows. Maybe she was just wishing Betty White was there! I actually kinda liked that hair, and the dress, but they didn't really match. I hope she's happier at the Oscars.

Anyway, for me, Best dressed is quite clearly Hailee Steinfeld. Age apprpriate yet still glamourous. She looked pretty stu ning for a 14 year old, and not even in a creepy way (not that creepy anyway).

CZJ was a close second, and Helena was just sheer awesomeness (she's the Gaga of film!)

I (word slightly less harsh than Hate, cos i don't like to use it) Lea Michele, but she did look genuinly happy when Colfer won.

January 19, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterBroooooke

Halle Barry is a NIGHTMARE so is Sandra Bullock (or was it a "Fragle Rock?)
Even if I (and I might be the only one..? Hello..somebody...) feel a Nathalie Portman's "fatigue" I think she looked AMAZING. I Welcome back Nicole Kidman as QUEEN of THE RED CARPET & my special prize goes to the ALWAYS edgy yet sooooo interesting & glamorous Tilda Swinton.

p.s. Angelina Jolie looked RIDICULOUS (as always...) she looked more WAXY than her Madame Tusso's version of her???

January 19, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterstjeans

I would like to pluck the red rose off Natalie Portman's bosom and offer it to Helena's red queen.

January 19, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterBluemoon02

I totally agree with you about Nicole, she looked perfect, but you left off the gorgeous Dianna Agron who was clearly the best dressed on the red carpet on Sunday night...she just looked gorgeous. The pair of them were my two favourites, along with Mila Kunis who wore that green perfectly.

Really though, all four of those green ladies were excellent, I loved Elisabeth Moss' dress, Angie was really making a fashion statement in the most glamorous possible way, CZJ looked like Scarlett O'Hara in that gorgeous ensemble and Mila was just enchanting in hers.

I'm sorry, but January Jones looked awful in her gown (she needs a new stylist after that AND the Emmys dress from last year), and Natalie Portman really should've reconsidered the ugly flower thing...and while the beautiful Anne Hathaway looks beautiful in that picture, I must say, you got it at a good angle. From the front (at least on TV) the thing looked like a disco ball had been picked apart and stuck in the most disgusting way possible on her body.

January 19, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMatty D

I thought Catherine ZJ looked good but her ball gown dress was maybe a little too voluminous. The cut of Emma Stone's dress was fantastic although she could have used a bit more color. But she looked fine in her 1st Award's RC as a new star. Angelina looked great and the shimmering effect was particularly nice. In addition, her face looked fuller and with her nicely glowing complexion, she looked more beautiful than in past Award shows. Nicole's dress was very flattering and perfect for her. Lastly, I loved the look on Helena, yes it looks inspired by one of Tim Burton's surrealist drawings but that was exactly what she wanted. Would have pref Natalie's gown w/o the rose altogether.

I didn't care for Tilda's sack or Megan Fox's and January Jones trying too hard to be sexy attires.

January 19, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterKitC

loved nicole (flawless and so statuesque). natalie's looked ok from the side and from the bump up.

thought CZJ was good but a bit dramatic for the GGs//maybe better sutied for the oscars.

Agree that Dianna Agron was beautiful.

And also did anyone else think Amy Adams looked like Nicole Kidman at the 2005 globes.. when she wore the dress with the peacock feather.Same colour and hair..they really should play sisters

January 19, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterLeigh

i guess sandy bullock had something better to do on golden globes night; why else send a female impersonator in her stead?

January 19, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterpar3182

The more I look at photos, the more I love Catherine Zeta Jones and her dress, there was something very regal about it.
HAHAHA at the description of Angelina - Dynasty. So true. Another dress that grew on me as the night went on!

But Nathaniel, where is Michelle Pfeiffer in all of this? ;)

Ms Portman - can someone photo shop the rose out of her dress, i just think it would have been so much nicer without it.

Bring on the Oscars!

January 19, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJazz

OT you're right. ARGH. It was correct until a vfew days ago and i got confused about the day mark disappearing on Tuesday but it still has the hour counter. anyway. ARGH. fixed. thanks

January 19, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterNathaniel R

The flower on Natalie's dress is tacky, ridiculous and looks cheap. The color of the dress is hedious and it lokks like she is wraped in a towel.

I cant stand Glee and cant stand this Lea Michelle person, always pulling faces and fishing for attention and trying too hard.

Nicole looks like a candle and I dont understand what has she done to her face......what has she done to her lips.

Michelle Williams rocks her pixie but the dress was ridiculous. When I remember her in that amazing, wonderful, beautiful, bold, gracious and daring canary yellow dress at the Oscars while she was at Heath's arms it makes me a bit emotional. That was one of my fave Oscar dresses ever.

Angelina is a goddess. It must be a bit humiliating for the others. She hardly did anything to her hair and looks like a greek sculture.

I really liked Jannifer Lawrence's dress. She was a bit too young for it. That dress would have been amazing in Diane Kruger or Zoe Saldana.

Doesnt Halle Berry ever age?

January 19, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterAmanda

I love Helena Bonham Carter's outfit. It was crazy, but it worked. The shoes matched the dress and were an intentional decision. Frankly, this was downright demure and simple for her judging by the simple hair and lack of layers. I hope she busts out a bustle, corset, and hair ribbons for the Oscars. Or, to really tick people off, wears the same dress with a red shoe on the right foot and a green shoe on the left.

January 19, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterOtherRobert

@stjean - I'm feeling a little Portman fatigue myself. That dress didn't help the situation.

January 19, 2011 | Unregistered Commentercheesy bits

what was up with Scarlett Johansson's hair? Did she stick her head out the window on the way there? She looked like the Bride of Frankenstein.

January 19, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMike

Where does Tilda figure in this selection?

January 19, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterjohn

Emma Stone or Olivia Wilde. Loved them both.

January 19, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterSawyer

Apologies to Julianne Moore, but that was quite possibly the most hideous red carpet dress I have ever seen.

January 19, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterKurtis O

Catherine Zeta-Jones takes the gold easily -- even with the standard being as high as it was. Agree that Emma Stone's dress was perhaps the most beautiful piece of design there, but that that the colouring didn't quite gel. Now if that dress had joined the emerald green club, we'd have had a winner.

January 19, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterGuy Lodge

I love how Tilda and Helena stick to their own style (and that they have one! :)). If I just saw their dresses in a shopwindow, I'd most probably find them hideous, but when they wear it, you just can't judge their appearance along the same lines as you judge the others. Their whole outfit is always unique and makes sense. But it's actually Tilda's pink pumps I was most fond of the whole evening, that colour is just beautiful!!

As for the dresses, I have several favourites, CZJ, Anne Hathaway, Amy Adams (that colour, again, was just so great) and Olivia Wilde were beautiful, as was Jane Fonda, I just went WOW when I saw her (even with the shoulder pads which I hate).

I didn't like Angelina's look because she is already too skinny and the huge shoulder pads just further accentuated it - I didn't like that it seemed she didn't have the time to have her hair done either. And as much as I love Julianne Moore, that dress was so ugly I couldn''t even decide what I hated more, the colour or the cut. :( I'd so much like to see Nicole in something more colourful and less simple, but I agree about Hailee, she was just perfect in that dress. In her case, effortless is absolutely the word. :)

January 19, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterprincipessa1121

On the subject of Glee's ladies: Jesus Christ, Naya Rivera's boobs in that dress.

I liked Lea Michele's look, though it's very similar to her other ones (at least she doesn't have those terrible blunt bangs anymore).

CZJ looked amazing, as usual.

January 19, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterSC

I'm not gonna act like I know anything about fashion, but Olivia Wilde's dress was the best IMO.

January 19, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterKokolo

Hated all the fake shoulder pad dresses, Hated Natalie's flower, Hated Hated Sandra's dress, and thought that January Jones chose a dress that made her seemingly have a fat roll as she was presenting. Terrible choice.

I liked Michelle Williams, Hailee Steinfeld, Emma Stone, and Nicole Kidman. Elizabeth Moss's choice had me intrigued.

January 19, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterEvan

Olivia Wilde was the best dressed of the entire night. Don't get the hate there. Maybe the hair could have been better though.

Don't get why green was so in this year, or why both Angelina Jolie and Anne Hathaway were channeling their inner Joan Collins. Points off for both of them.

Halle Berry was sex on a stick! Kudos for that! Show 'em you still got it, Halle! I ain't mad at ya!

January Jones looked great to me. I liked the daring and the bright red/ matching lipstick.

Emma Stone's dress had to grow on me. I think the color of the dress and her blonde hair drowned her skin out. Now if she were still a redhead, that look could have been a winner.

Don't get what Michelle Williams was doing at all. Shower curtains, indeed.

I liked the "rose look" for Natalie Portman. Maybe I'm just accustomed to that kind of thing from maternity clothes. Her hair and makeup were gorgeous though. I wish that had been her Oscars look.

Sandra Bullock looked like she didn't even try, and her hair was horrible. Looked like a wig.

My darling Nikki looked like the goddess that she is!

Helena Bonham Carter needs to have a seat. That's Sally Kirkland-type foolishness that should be above everyone involved in "fashion" for these kind of events.

So . . .

Best of the Globes: Olivia Wilde
WORST of the Globes: Helena Bonham Carter

January 19, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterDorian

Best: (Easily) Emma Stone. Runner-up: Olivia Wilde. 2nd Runner-up: Anne Hathaway.
Worst: Natalie Portman. Runner-up: Halle Berry. 2nd Runner-up: Michelle Williams.

Luckily there were more hits than misses this year.
Can't wait for the Oscars' red carpet!

January 19, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJesse

BEST - Anne Hathaway, Elisabeth Moss, Julianne Moore and that bitch Angelina Jolie

WORST - Michelle Williams, Natalie Portman

January 19, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJoseph

Best Dressed: Catherine Zeta-Jones. This really is a no-brainer for me. By far the most glamorous dress on the red carpet. The woman just oozes class and sex appeal. So gorgeous.

I also loved Emma Stone, Angelina Jolie, and Anne Hathaway (I actually think Anne might be second best).

Absolutely hated Michelle Williams' dress (even though I LOVE her!). I wasn't feeling Sandra Bullock either (especially her hair, which just wasn't flattering). And Julianne Moore--that dress was H-I-D-E-O-U-S.

I agree Halle's dress was a bit biker-chick and tacky, but the woman could wear a trash bag and look sexy as hell. As my friend said when she first stepped onto the red carpet, "Does Halle Berry ever look like shit!?!?"

And Helena is awesome and exempt from any discussion of "worst dressed."

January 19, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterAaron

Halle Berry's "dress" was...uh, no. Just no, no no!

Oddly enough, it brought back unpleasant flashbacks in the form of Hilary Swank's 2003 Oscar dress (http://life.stage.gettyimages.com/image/77262346/in-gallery/22974#index/8), but with a twist of Blonde Ambition -- or is it Black Ambition? Regardless, she struck out with that one.

I loved all of the Dynasty homages: Fonda, Hathaway, Jolie. Might the GG's have been a tacit audition for the big screen version? (If only!)

January 19, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMark B.

The funny thing is the Vogue/style.com has a poll on the best dressed list and the last time I checked, Olivia Wilde is winning by 600 and the second placers are getting 100 votes. They're such noobs. Of course Nicole Kidman's best dressed.
