GALECA Loves Transparent (and a little of everything else!)
Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 9:03PM The Gay & Lesbian Entertainment Journalists Association have chosen their winners from the film year and, like so many other awards bodies they've opted for a Savage Grace mother/son reunion with Julianne Moore & Eddie Redmayne taking Actress & Actor of the Year for film. (The primary difference being only that they have probably heard of / possibly seen Savage Grace.) Lisa Kudrow & Jeffrey Tambor took the television version of those prizes and though there was significant spreading of the wealth elsewhere, Transparent, Amazon's Golden Globe winning breakout show about a retired father (Jeffrey Tambor) who comes out to her children as a trans woman thoroughly dominated the TV field winning five prizes. As previously stated I still don't understand this associations definition of camp (Into the Woods is too literal-minded to be camp if you ask me - I was partial to the much cleverer Gone Girl in that category) I'm very happy with the results with love for several wonderful 2014 achievements like Selma, Getting On, Pride, and Mommy all among the film and tv awards. Love every award on this list though I haven't seen Still Alice. And I agree with you on Into the Woods. It's not camp--my vote would go to The Guest.
In what language is Into the Woods camp? Annie is more camp than Into the Woods.
So Gina Rodriguez won the "We're Wilde About You" Rising Star Award and her show "wins" Campy TV Show and yet her or her show didn't appear in the bigger categories? Hm.
That said, mostly great picks here. Cool to see the Redmayne win especially.
lisa kudrow deserves all the awards for creating/portraying valerie cherish.
To clarify my earlier comment, I meant Jane the Virgin not showing up with nominations in the bigger categories. The winners are right on. Yay Lisa Kudrow!

Mommy is the campiest movie I've seen this year.
I need to see Lisa Kudrow get every single award possible for The Comeback.
What is the purpose of having a Gay & Lesbian Entertainment Journalists Association if, apart from a specific LGBT award or two (which kinda feel like that Best British nonsense from Bafta), they're going to award the same slew of films/performances everybody else is?
With Pride, Love is Strange, The Way He Looks, Saint Laurent and even non-LGBT movies that address exploring one's sexuality, like Mommy, Only Lovers Left Alive and Under the Skin, giving Boyhood its millionth best film award is just pointless.
The television prizes, even with the undeserved shut out of Orange is the New Black, are much stronger picks.
I was celebrating the Savage Grace reunion when they won Golden Globes :)
