35 Days Until the Critics Choice Awards. Nominations Tomorrow.

Actor/comedian TJ Miller (Silicon Valley and "Tuffnot Thorston" in the How to Train Your Dragon franchise) is hosting. Though I usually attend funds are low this year so I haven't yet made the travel decision. (It will be tough to beat last year's experience with Jessica Chastain at any rate.)
Do you think these films will get the boost they need tomorrow?The nominations for the 21st annual Critics Choice Awards will be announced tomorrow. Since there are six nominees in each acting category (which you'll know annoys the purists like me and probably many of you -- the correct number is always FIVE) you can safely bet that most of the Oscar frontrunners will be accounted for so what's interesting is the fifth and sixth free-for-all spots in each lineup. I'm perhaps most curious to see how films on the bubble perform (like Steve Jobs, Bridge of Spies, and Creed) or whether films that risk being forgotten (like Sicario) come roaring back to life. This is the second to last clue in precursor season about which films and performances are well loved as we approach Oscar nominations (the last clue being the various guild nominations to come).
I shan't predict these BFCA "Critics Choice" nominations since I vote but rest assured that I did my part for Carol, Mad Max, Room and the other movies we've showered love on here. But how about you? Any predictions.

Predictions are difficult this year. I'm annoyed that people still salivates over Alejandro Gonzales Iñárritu like he's the genius he's not (Chivo is!) And, no offense, for any mexican here with extreme prejudice over this, I LOVE Alfonso Cuarón. Storytelling and intelligence wins over pomposity and abjection (aka: miserabilism) any day. No matter how spectacular or flashy it is. Iñárritu just masturbates over himself (Look ma, no hands!) Well, it's all about taste, isn't it? I like those things in private, nor for the mass consumption. Meaning: EVERYTHING that the pundits are calling now, except for the pretty but ephemeral sadomasochist porn that is THE REVENANT, please! Please?
Leave out the gross satisfaction for once and embrace the subtle seduction! So go, CAROL!
I hope Jason Mitchell is in supporting actor. Oscar will likely pass on Straight Outta Compton, but to keep it nice and white we're now stuck with Trumbo! (Eww)
One more thing. People like AGi and Gaspar Noé, to name just two, are the things the makes me think what's wrong with movies or, better yet, how the hell the most important festivals in the world keep on inviting their films. Yes, it is personal. Can't help it. Didn't see TRUMBO or Straight Outta Compton, though. Could they be more irritating than either Revenant or Love? Is that possible? I write for a blog in Spanish about films, so I HAVE to see them, if you ask. Some opinions on disliking so much TRUMBO? I'm iinterested.

Wish 99 Homes was playing in theaters. Michael Shannon looks tp be running away with Supporting Actor citations. Looks like there'll be a "Revolutionary Road," reunion at the Oscars: NICE. Just hope Paul Dano and the "Spotlight" actors aren't left out. I would hate to see these brilliant actors left out for a sentimental nod for someone who has may have earned the most Razzies in history. Maybe they'll play "Rhinestone," all over the place before nominations come out. They should have used subtitles when his dialog was heard. Sorry.
As for Steve Jobs, I expect to see Fassbender, Winslet and Sorkin, at least. I highly doubt Boyle will get in, even if it enters Best Film.
Hopefully Rampling gets in.
The downside of a wide open year is that very few things would surprise me now. Some categories have 10 viable contenders, but we know who they all are. Any combination thereof wouldn't come as a shock on nomination morning.
Give me a seemingly locked-up year with shockers that float in under the wire over an "unpredictable" year where "snubs" hardly count as snubs 'cause there are a dozen people in the conversation. Short of someone from the very bottom of the bracket sneaking in (a Cynthia Nixon nomination, for instance) the lack of safe bets really just makes the conversation mushy.
What will make the conversation REALLY interesting is when people start winning.
Hayden -- or really boring if it's the same people. it would be so fun to have an oscar year where precursors don't agree on winners. It happens so very rarely to get like a Supporting Actress 2007 you know? Imagine if all four acting categories were that way. That would be THRILLING on Oscar night.
The astonishing thing about 2007 is that TILDA won. The Academy is terrible at calling close races—ask Viola Davis, Mickey Rourke and Michael Keaton. 2007 gave us all the excitement and none of the rage (until Forrest Whitaker announced Best Actress later on...).

i know the BFCA have six categories and such (and a tendency for predicting) but its amazing how closely they lineup with Oscar each year.
On another note, Rampling really needs this (or BAFTA).
Laura Linney is the *only* Best Actress Oscar nominee since 2000 to manage a nomination without any of the main precursors (Globe, SAG, BAFTA, BFCA, ISA).
