June is Pride Month and with Caitlyn Jenner kicking things off with that Vanity Fair reveal today let's go back to one of the most moving original gay anthems "I Am What I Am" from La Cage Aux Folles. It's only one of the greatest songs ever written about being true to yourself. (I adore that moment at the beach in Paris is Burning when the two ladies start singing it).

Nat, you have to see this blog. Jeff Victor, the owner of it, is a great illustrator who makes amazing stuff linked to films. He even makes evolution charts of actors and characters, including Catwoman!
Oh John Barrowman is such a great singer. His version of Sunset Boulevard is (arguably) the best.
Nat: If I wasn't sure that was the actual trailer for the ACTUAL MOVIE, I'd swear it was a PARODY of the hacky version of a 2010s tentpole release. Pretentious speech to underline importance of movie? Check. Grey aesthetic? Check. Ripping off setpieces and themes from Nolan? Check. Actually making the more gimmicky original look like the height of subtle dignity in spite of the "hyper real" gloss? Check. All you'd need is the trailer concealing an obvious "mystery that doesn't change the story that much" and you'd be set.
Hoult was a pleasant suprise. His character arc was not convincing but that is a fault in the writing as he was quite magnetic in the role. Much more impressive than Gardy and arguably moreso than Theron.
We weren't taking Nicholas Hoult seriously before?! What.
I'm probably just too biased towards Skiins alums. I haven't watched every generation faithfully, but it had the most compelling material for teen actors out there--probably ever. And there was truly nary a bad actor on that show. Totally unsurprising that so many of them have broken out beyond the show.

I give Caitlyn props for knowing how to run the boards. Olympic feat to work media that successfully in modern digital age. Also really looking forward to Jessica Chastain in Jurassic World.
I wonder if Lifetime or Oxygen, or maybe HBO or Showtime, could find a (non-cheesy for the basics) way of filming "Gerald's Game". It's such an interior novel, but it is a good one.
Please let Chris Pratt's bulge be a sign of good things for "Jurassic World"!!!

I like that John Barrowman really seems like a drag queen when he sings from La Cage aux Folles, but if you ask me, nobody compares vocally to Douglas Hodge's rendition of "I Am What I Am."
