At first glance I thought that was a photo from a Broadway play set.
Damn though what a great movie and capital "a" Acting.

I don't like all of Todd Haynes' work, but I adore this film. The entire cast is fantastic, the production design and cinematography is splendid, and the film's updating of fifties women's pictures is brilliant on multiple levels.

I first saw Far From Heaven in a pre-release screening with the Westchester Cinema Club, in a theater in my old hometown, Yonkers. There was major applause for the then-just-restored Yonkers train station, which "plays" the Hartford station in those gorgeous opening and closing shots.

Best movie of 2002.

The first time I saw this movie I was so bored I didn't finish it, despite its beauty and the good acting. But the second time I saw it I LOVED it, and only appreciated its beauty and acting all the more.

This shot reminds me of an Edward Hopper painting.

A great hommage to Douglas Sirk too.
BTW, was here ever an episode of the "Hit me with your best shot" of "What Heaven allows"?
If not, you should consider it!

DJDeeJay - I thought exactly the same thing! Great minds.

Sorry, I mean "All that heaven allows" (1955).

Talk about production design you'd want to live in forever! Not to mention costumes, cinematography etc...

I was just having the worst morning and a single glance at this still has restored a glow to my heart. Thank you Todd and Nathaniel.
