20th Century Women & 21st Century Tweetweek
So much to cover today: Annette Bening in 20th Century Women, the Blade Runner sequel, and movie jokes about current politics after the jump...
There are few characters in film history that I personally relate to more than the inside out baboon in The Fly.

20TH CENTURY WOMEN
20TH CENTURY WOMEN is just wonderful. My heart felt like it was going to burst. Annette Bening Forever.
— Nathaniel Rogers (@nathanielr) October 7, 2016
i think 1 of the reasons 20TH CENTURY WOMEN felt like a miracle cure is that we’re living through a year of ugly and proud misogyny
— Nathaniel Rogers (@nathanielr) October 7, 2016
20th Century Women is a movie I think I'm going to love more and more with each watch. Also, Annette Bening dances to Black Flag. #NYFF

I get the impression that NY media saw 20Th Century Women. They are effusive and correct about being so. Gerwig great… but Bening owns it…

My sanctuary is Annette Bening dancing to Talking Heads. "20th Century Women" is vibrant and nourishing and lovely. #NYFF

I disliked 20TH CENTURY WOMEN so much I'm worried I'll be too cranky to enjoy AQUARIUS. #NYFF #criticslife

Lots of eyes on Viola Davis dropping to supporting, but I'll just say keep an eye on Annette Bening in that regard.

20TH C. WOMEN is lovely and moving and also basically ANNETTE BENING SMOKING AND MULLING: THE MOVIE which is the highest compliment #NYFF54

If I tell you that this is the most delightful Annette Bening has been since MARS ATTACKS, I promise I mean it as high praise

I call ANNA KARENINA sublime and get criticised for liking style over substance. Now you say Pence won the Debate? Give me a break, America.

This is a fun fun batch. Say what you will about Trump but he is comedy gold and when he's gone and deleted from history, we'll always have that time where he brought out the best humor in all of us.
Where is Annette on your Oscar radar now ?
Joseph -- right where she is the on the chart! an extremely worthy nominee but it's a tight race. we'll see if one of the expected five gets knocked off for Meryl or Amy (both good this year and we know Oscar loves them in huge amounts) or if Huppert fans rally and if so who she displaces.
My Oscar wishlist (wiin) - Annette > Isabelle > Viola > Emma > whoever in the last spot.
Could Bening go supporting like Tapkey says? Is it category fraud?
Cal -- i mean, she's top billed and it's about the mother & son so it seems crass to me. but in some ways it's very much an ensemble picture so they *might* be able to get away with it.
Chris Crocker? O.O ewwwww
Can we as the gay community rise above immediately attacking someone for being politically independent, we live in a democracy and are the supposed leaders of the free world but have a mob mentality anytime someone breaks from what's expected-even if what's expected seems to be common sense and decent like not allowing trump to become president-We should champion people for even being politically engaged especially when it's a voice that could highlight the diversity in marginalized groups like the LGBTQ community .
