A roundup as we do. It's so hard to keep up during Cannes!

More tweets after the jump including Cannes mania, White House exorcisms, Netflix divisiveness, and beautiful actresses of course. They're kind of a staple here, okay?...

I really liked Alien:Covenant. Fascinating almost in spite of the xenomorph. Should've been called Alien:Fassbender, though.

Some of my colleagues smack-talking ALIEN COVENANT right now will be pitching thinkpieces someday about how "underrated" it is.

THAT NETFLIX CANNES BROUHAHA
OKJA starts, huge boos at Netflix logo. Then film plays in wrong aspect ratio and Grand Lumiere almost rioted. movie stopped. #Cannes2017
— david ehrlich (@davidehrlich) May 19, 2017
OKJA: like ET on crack. wild & wildly uneven, but always soulful. A+ cast, 1 legendary chase, everything you want AT the movies #Cannes2017
The idea that Netflix=progressive and the French cultural exception =reactionary is almost exactly backwards.

Whoa!!!!! Now the dress that Aishwarya Rai wears is huge but gorgeous. She wins.... for now.
"People aren't talking enough about Victoria Abril or what she's wearing at #Cannes70 (how do you say "insane goddess" in español?)"
You say it like this:
"horrendo caso de apropiación cultural a la vista".
Ugh Susan Sarandon.
Me34 - LMAO my thoughts exactly
Yay Susan Sarandon.
THAT. DRESS.
Nathaniel, have you read that recent article about Nicole Kidman in Cannes? I can't read anything about her anymore and not think of you. :)
Marek -- i'm not sure which you're referring to. there are so many articles about her these days.
@Ryan T. My sentiments exactly The desperation of an aging actress!
Umm, wait K. How is it a sign of "the desperation of an aging actress?" She looks great, has always had amazing cleavage and still has it now. Are women no longer able to celebrate their bodies after a certain age? Cause that's hella sexist and symptomatic of a society that routinely diminishes older women.
Totally agree with the above comment. She looks awesome. And even if you dislike her, she's given some legendary performances, especially in Thelma & Louise.
I have a grandmother Sarandon 's age who looks pretty good for the age she is. But I would be quite embarrassed if she looked like Sarandon and flaunted herself when she was in public. Think of that. If you are gay, then I see you liking such a thing.
Sarandon was a mature sex symbol in her prime.
/3rtful I totally agree with you. But that was then, thisis now.
Apologies, Nathaniel. Here's the link, I meant to include it in my original post. It made me think of you.
https://www.theguardian.com/film/2017/may/15/nicole-kidman-cannes-2017-queen-of-croisette
I'd still hit Sarandon hard, so I don't get where you guys are coming from. She's prime GILF material, the only one who gives Helen Mirren a run for her money.
@Me34 - cultural appropriation is one of the most bullshit concepts ever invented by bored privileged Western intellectuals, but I still laughed at that comment, so kudos.
K - well of course no one wants THEIR OWN GRANDMA to present themselves like that. It's like why no one wants to see their own mom dressed in any kind of way that could be sexual. Your own relatives are different.
But Sarandon is going for old-school movie star glamour and, despite her horrid politics, is killin' it. Is the cleavage just a bit too much? Maybe, but she's clearly having fun. I'd much rather a woman "of a certain age" defy ageist, sexist standards like this than Madonna's recent, just plain ugly getups with her ass hanging out on the red carpet.
Isn't Sarandon someone's mother/grandmother?????
So becoming a mother/ grandmother disqualifies a woman from also being a sex symbol, or celebrating her body? You as a man get to decide when it is appropriate for them to "put it away?" Thanks for confirming that your initial post was ageist and sexist. Maybe you should consider not telling women what they are allowed to do with their own bodies....
@S. 2 things:
1. I was talking to DJDeeJay NOT you
2. I am a woman.
So butt out!
K - yes, she is, so if her children/grandchildren are embarrassed in that silly way people get embarrassed when they have to deal with their parents'/grandparents' sexuality, then fine. That makes sense. For everyone else in the world, I fully agree with S's first sentence.
Never mind. You will not change your mind and I will not change mine.
K- woman, if U have problems about yourself, your body or your relatives, keep them to yourself! Don´t dare try to make other women behave the way YOU think they should. It´s her body, her age,her life. Mind your own!
You are a fairy asshole. This site is supposed to be people's opinions. You have yours and I have mine. I do see that Nat's blog has become Fascist .. you all have nothing over Trump. I refuse to be told what to think.
U R a homophobic piece of S! Got to hell, useless human being!
P.S the same way you think that her age not allows her to show her body, your ideas from 400 years ago should not be exposed, JUST MY OPINION!
CHILDREN -- stop fighting. thank you, The Management.
No problem. I am done with this site. Now all can go back to jizzing in their pants.
