Trailer for ''God's Own Country''
by Murtada
Do we have a new gay classic coming our way this year? Judging by the reactions from a few film festivals, we just might. The film in question is Francis Lee’s debut God’s Own Country. The story is about a farmer from Northern England and his journey of sexual discovery after falling for a Romanian migrant worker...
It first received strong notices at last January’s Sundance. It also played Berlin and just won the audience award at Frameline, San Francisco’s LGBTQ film festival
The lead parts are played by Josh O’Connor (The Riot Club, Florence Foster Jenkins, Peaky Blinders) & Alex Secareanu. God’s Own Country sparked predictable comparisons to Brokeback Mountain (2005) because of its rural setting. The director doesn't care for the comparison. He told Empire Magazine:
I love Brokeback Mountain. The comparison feels like an honour, but they are very different. Brokeback is of a particular time and place – its two central characters can't be together because of society's attitudes. In God's Own Country, it's all to do with the central character's inability to open up.
God’s Own Country is coming to NY and LA on October 27th, elsewhere on November 11th. Before that it will open Outfest LA next week.

What a lovely trailer. Certainly stirs memories of Brokeback Mountain. Alex Secareanu is incredibly gorgeous!
It does indeed remind me of Brokeback Mountain but perhaps more.. intimate? Looking forward to it!
This does look beautiful. I hope to check it out if it's available nearby.
This looks good and the men are an interesting couple
Looks excellent - can't wait.
"In God's Own Country, it's all to do with the central character's inability to open up."
'cause ennis del mar was such an extrovert
I saw this a few weeks back at the Provincetown International Film Festival (something fitting about that fact), and I'm certain that it'll be ranked among the greats of LGBTQ+ cinema in no time.
It's very good, even if pretty much every single scene feels like it's been seen before in another queer film. I liked the chemistry between the actors (who are quite handsome it can be admitted) and there's an explicitness to their sex scenes that is refreshing. People will die for the ending, though.
HOWEVER, I'd really like to know if the director is gay, because he includes a sex scene that uses just spit at lube (like Brokeback) that the bottom of the pair barely winces at. Who are these people who think anal sex just happens with a bit of spit to guide the way?
Lol, ripping storylines straight from The Archers...
We do have another gay classic coming this year. Its called Call Me By Your Name.
Glenn Dunks - Actually spit is a really good lubricant. *runs away*
