Netflix to Give "Sense8" One Final Hurrah
Chris here, with news for Sense8 fans. The series was unceremoniously canceled by Netflix shortly after the airing of the kinky sci-fi series's second season, and the outcry online was vocal. But here is another success story where fanbase outrage saves a beloved niche series: Netflix has announced a two-hour special finale to arrive next year. While this may not be another season like fans had hoped, it gives the Wachowski sisters some space to tie up a few loose ends and maybe another showstopping bit of naughtiness.
This makes for an interesting development for Netflix as well as they begin to start giving the axe to their less popular (or expensive, like Sense8 proved to be) programming. The streaming service is moving faster on dumping newbies like Girlboss and The Get Down, but this does show a certain care for their departing shows that have fan support. There are plenty of examples of shows that end strong from a set end date, so Netflix is also providing the Wachowski's an opportunity to end strong rather than fizzle out. Like HBO's Looking this past season, Sense8 is about to become one lean and unique entry for the television history books.

This is such a relief actually since it ended on a cliffhanger of sorts. Plus there is literally nothing like it on television. Unfortunately I am going to be so disappointed if we dont get one last sensate orgy because again "nothing like it on television"
This indeed was the best news yesterday. I've been feeling guilty watching Netflix since Sense8's cancellation but UGH they have so much other content! So fortunately guilt gone.
Do I want a full S3 instead? OF COURSE. But this is so much better than nothing.
This news made me so happy. I know it's a not third season, but it will hopefully give me enough closure.
Nathaniel- Based on how good the visuals can be for this series I think the special could make a good HMWYBS subject.
Best news I've gotten all week, entertainment-wise.
I know people were surprised and upset about it getting cancelled, but I always knew it wasn't going to be long for this world just because of how expensive it was. If it was on HBO and getting Emmy and/or social media love, it would be a different story, but it's on Netflix, and there's VERY FEW ways they can make money from it. If it weren't such a costly show to produce, I bet it would have stuck around for as long as the Wachowskis wanted to make it. Or at least one more season. At any rate, I'm very glad to have had Sense8 at all, and especially glad that they're going to get a chance to wrap up the story.
Yes! So happy with this.
Even thought season 2 dragged a bit, it deserved a proper ending.
