I actually really liked Zoe Kazan in The Big Sick! I was waiting for Nathaniel or Nick to defend her but I still enjoyed Joe's strong feelings about her.

Nick's take on the Baby character convinced me, even if I liked the movie in general more than he did.

PS for Nick: Tomcat and Raising Bertie are both on VOD in the US. Not sure if that qualifies as a US release for you, but they're two movies I know you enjoyed that seem like likely Fifties nominees.

Agreed re: Nick and "Baby Driver" feeling worse as it continues. I think Wright is accustomed to cartoon violence from his other films, but this is the first time he's set it in something resembling the real world. It's an uneasy mixture at best, though Wright is hardly the only filmmaker with a cavalier attitude towards violence and collateral damage.

Would love to hear y'all discuss "Valerian", though with a crowded summer that's probably unlikely. (My three-word review: Why Dane DeHaan?)

I stopped the podcast half way through because of the disregard to spoilers.
