Three Questions for Nicole Kidman's Birthday

We went all out for Nicole Kidman's 50th birthday last year with 50 Appropriate Ways to Celebrate so this year on her 51st (happy birthday diva!) we'll keep it simpler.

Answer me these questions three in the comments:

  1. What's your favorite performance of hers that isn't from her legend-making 2001-2004 run (i.e. The Others-Moulin Rouge!-The Hours-Cold Mountain-Dogville-Birth what a genius run that was!)
  2. What single scene -- minus the opera seen in Birth --pops into your head the most when her name is invoked?
  3. What's a performance of hers that you haven't seen (she works so much you're surely missing something!) that you're most curious about?

and if you're on twitter go really crazy and do the 10 question meme

Merch Madness: Actress Edition

Seán here with a little bit of fun. Cynthia Nixon was blessed to be a called an "unqualified lesbian" last week, and is now dropping some of this dank dope cool merch to raise money for her campaign for Governer of New York.

And while Miranda was swapping brunch for nutritious lunches in our public schools - I couldn't help but wonder: what is some of the best and truly worst actress-centred merchandise out there in the swamp we lovingly know as Etsy? From the brilliant Girls on Tops to something a little bit more, um... interesting.

I never had to google "Meryl Streep merchandise" before, but I'm glad I did. Share your finds in the comments.

Tweetweek and the Wonder Women

Hooray. SquareSpace has fixed their Twitter problem so now tweets can be displayed properly again. Essentially we like doing these roundups for two reasons. One, it's easy to miss good stuff on twitter in the presence of an endless stream of stuff.  Two, some of you don't use twitter and are probably more sane for it but you shouldn't be denied seeing amusing, insightful, or otherwise shareable brief thoughts on topics both deafening and underdiscussed.

And while we're on the topic of underdiscussed...

Wholly agree with Murtada on this one! I'm sad that we didn't give Professor Marston and the Wonder Women its due here at TFE. Maybe when it hits DVD or streaming we can all dig in together? Surprisingly solid with Hall acing her complex leading role (as per usual).

After the jump topics from Mindhunter through Into the Woods to Call Me By Your Name and beyond...

I mean... technically she didn't need to ask. We've long since assumed the position.

Resident Evil: A Bloody Valentine

By Salim Garami

What's good?

We're already one week into October and so that means a lot of us are in the middle of binging our favorite Halloween watches or trying out some new ones. Personally, I'm revisiting the long-time zombie science fiction action franchise Resident Evil, based on Capcom's survival horror games that made up my childhood and starring the brilliant Milla Jovovich as apocalypstic ass-kicker Alice (self-promotion moment: it's more than likely I'm going to be writing about the series on Motorbreath within the month) and I have a bit of an observation about the concept of the character that I think might at least amuse the Actressexuals among this site's audience...
