Nicole Kidman posted this beautiful image this morning to celebrate. Look at baby Nic! Happy Mothers Day to all readers especially the mothers. And happy mothers day to everyone, retroactively, who ever birthed someone who helped bring the world movie magic.

And for fun after the jump, 12 favourite movies with mothers in the title...

Showbiz History: Tommy Lee, Tom Hardy, and Mother!

7 random things that happened on this day in showbiz history...

1890: Agatha Christie born in Devon, England. She would become one of the world's most famous writers of all time. Over 70 (!!!) adaptations of her work have hit film and television over the years from as early as 1928 (a silent film called The Passing of Mr Quinn) to the forthcoming Death on the Nile in 2020. Only one of the adaptations was ever nominated for Best Picture though: Billy Wilder's take on Witness for the Prosecution (1957)...

JLaw's back!

by Cláudio Alves

Jennifer Lawrence's career is a fascinating thing, starting in humbleness followed by a meteoric rise, promises of eternal success and a swerve into the land of flops and unexpected irrelevance. It all started in her teenage years when she was a working actress with credits on film and TV. It was a humble indie film that changed everything. In Debra Granik's Winter's Bone, Lawrence gave a career-best performance, painting a portrait of desperation and lived-in roughness as an Ozark Mountain girl in search of her missing father. Posterized: Bong Joon-ho

by Nathaniel R

With Parasite rapidly collecting box office loot ($95 million worldwide to date) and looking very strong for awards season and top ten listsd, let's talk about the master behind the camera Boon Jong-ho. The Palme d'or winner turned 50 last month and had yet more cause to celebrate his half century mark with Parasite opening to sensational box office and expanding rapidly (lots more cities this weekend, so go see it!)

Let's look at his short but stellar filmography in poster form after the jump...

Beauty vs Beast: Oscar's Best Bits

Jason from MNPP here, nursing my annual Oscars hangover but mostly feeling just fine about last night's winners. (The high I got off of James Ivory's Elio Shirt carried me through the whole show, honestly.) As far as a production the show had its highs (loved that cut quartz set) and its lows (really not feeling that war movie montage) but it's the two stand-out visual gags of the evening that will probably stand the test of time are the subjects of this week's "Beauty vs Beast" poll...

PREVIOUSLY We've got to give Jennifer Lawrence some credit because she actually held her own on The Film Experience against no less fierce an opponent than queen goddess mother Michelle Pfeiffer herself - Michelle still won last week's mother!-themed poll (of course) with 70% of the vote, but it would've been way worse for most mortals. Still, said Brad:

"Give me a movie where Michelle Pfeiffer taunts and tortures Jennifer Lawrence for six or more hours and I'll be happy forever."
