Discussing the 1997 Oscar Race (Again)

Ben & Matt win "Best Original Screenplay" at the Oscars

Remember how much fun the Supporting Actress Smackdown of 1997 was? Well, we had an opportunity to revisit that year much earlier than we were expecting to revisit it via our friends at the Cooler Than Ecto Podcast...

The host there is DJ Rob Champion (who I hope you'll remember from our Smackdown of 1998) and our former teammate and greatly missed pal Michael Cusumano who often serves as his co-host. Michael doesn't write very often anymore but we're always hoping to lure him back since he always give good read. Seriously catch up with his past work here.

Anyway... listen as we compare our own ballots in multiple categories to the Academy's nominees. Revisit a time when everyone still watched the Oscars, Matt Damon & Ben Affleck were the Hot Young Things in Hollywood, and the world couldn't get enough of drowning in the North Atlantic with James Cameron, Kate Winslet, and Leonardo DiCaprio.
