Oscar Volley: Who will take the fifth slot in Best Actress?

Team Experience will be discussing each Oscar category as we head into the precursors. Here's Nick Taylor and Eurocheese...

NICK: We’ve arrived at the most crowded acting category of year, which doesn’t necessarily mean this category will be difficult to predict. If you look at the fifteen women in Nathaniel’s Best Actress predictions -- I think Lesley Manville should be higher for Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris -- you can see that the fifth slot is going to be a bloodbath. It makes it even harder to narrow things down when so many of the turns are fantastic. The sheer amount of chaos offered from the this category in the past couple years makes it hard for me to feel comfortable with setting anything in stone even as we reach the end of the year.

I wanna honor the messiness of the category, from year to year, and spice up how we order this volley. Euro, of all the leading actresses from 2022 with minimal-to-no Oscar buzz, who would you rank among the very best?

Golden Globe Nominations! "Banshees" and "Abbott" lead

The nominations for the 80th annual Golden Globes have been announced with Banshees of Inisherin leading the pack (with an incredible 8 nominations - that's a lot for the Globes!) and Abbott Elementary leading for television (5 nominations). The Globes will return to NBC (and Peacock) on January 10th. The HFPA's (Hollywood Foreign Press Association) show was off the air for a year while doing internal reforms included adding 124 members in various capacities (including US journalists working for non-US outlets) and making their voting pool 52% female and 51.5% racially or ethnically diverse, and also becoming a for-profit institution under new ownership. The January event will be hosted by comedian Jerrod Carmichael who has had an amazing 2022, hosting Saturday Night Live in April and winning the Emmy for his brilliant special "Rothaniel" in September. Full list of nominations (comments in progress - refresh your screen periodically) after the jump...

Venice Gowns '22, Round 4

Ooops. We've been neglecting the fashion-watching duties so this is an abridged version of the gowns from the past few days before the closing ceremony (very soon). So who gets your vote for Best Dressed?

Venice Diary #9 - "Blonde"

by Elisa Giudici

Today was Blonde day, at least until one of the most iconic royal figure from the last century died, stealing attention and coverage away from Venice movies and all other events. Considering the reviews for the biopic (and the spike in views The Crown will get), Netflix should probably be relieved. So for today's diary, a controversial take on the life and death of Marilyn Monroe and two movies that reiterate how healthy French cinema is.

BLONDE by Andrew Dominik
Overlong, indulgent and hyper-focused on the most tragic aspects of the life of Marilyn Monroe, Blonde as a biopic is a thanks but no thanks...

Would you rather?

Okay so we had the roughest night of insomnia ever (which is saying a lot) followed by crashing which is why we're so slow today. While we prep more Cannes posting, a daydream about celebrities. Would you rather...?

• rock climb with Dominic Cooper?
• try a new mirror affirmation with Shailene Woodley?
• protest the Supreme Court's support of Forced Birth legislation with Cyndi Lauper and Laura Dern?
• join a pole dancing workout class with Brie Larson?
• go see Pamela Anderson in Chicago with Miley Cyrus?
• read Selma's Blair "Mean Baby" with Michelle Pfeiffer?
• learn how to shuck oysters with Lupita Nyong'o?
• try a pole dancing workout class with Brie Larson?
• smell the flowers with Anne Hathaway?
• do the splits with Chris Meloni (or just admire them)?
• drink wine with Glen Powell at Cannes?
• take a day off with Ana de Armas?
• eat hot dogs with "everything" with Florence Pugh?

Pictures are after the jump to help you decide...
