Posterized: Timothée Chalamet

by Nathaniel R

fan poster by sexysapiens'Surely young Timothée doesn't deserve a retrospective "Posterized" episode ?' you say.

'Ah but the young people are much quicker subjects,' say I who likes the prospect of only having to collect a handful of posters this week.

The 22 year-old star Timothée Chalamet was raised in New York with summers in France (his dad is French hence the accented name and his bilingual-ness). As a professional teen actor his first screen gigs were  recurring roles on Season 4 of "Royal Pains" and Season 2 of HBO's then enormously popular "Homeland" series, both in 2012. He hopped over to the movies very shortly thereafter. Though his feature film debut (Men Women and Children) flopped hard it wasn't long before he became the third youngest guy ever nominated for the Best Actor Oscar just last awards season. His new film Beautiful Boy about a father and son's torturous battle with the son's drug addicition hit theaters today in very limited release with expansions to follow soon given the starpower.

Chalamet turns 23 in December. Will The Academy give him a belated birthday gift in February for Beautiful Boy? The one they should have given him earlier this year? We don't (currently) think so but you never know.

His filmography in poster form is after the jump. How many have you seen?

Great Moments in Gay - Lady Bird

Here’s Ilich on Lady Bird (2017)...

Pride Month and its celebrations are so outrageously fun to participate in because they feel so earned. The titular pride almost never comes immediately after queer people identify, at least to themselves, as such. It’s often preceded by confusion and a paralyzing fear that interrupts as many opportunities of rational thought as it can. Queer people take their time navigating through awkward stages of a sort of grief that will hopefully lead to that realization that they are free to be themselves without fear, and definitely without shame. Hints of these stages are warmly depicted in Greta Gerwig’s endlessly satisfying directorial debut Lady Bird. Through Danny (Lucas Hedges) and his friendship with the film’s protagonist, Christine “Lady Bird” McPherson (Saoirse Ronan), Gerwig’s script fleshes out the performances that many rehearse in the process of accepting their nature...

99¢ Deals: Lady Bird, Body Heat, Farewell My Queen, etc...

It's a Public Service Announcement.

It's also False Advertising. Lady Bird as "Movie of the Week"? Try "Movie of the Year"! Lady Bird is currently 99¢ on iTunes. And we thought you should know in case by some mad and totally embarrassing chance you have not yet seen 2017's best movie.

We should probably check in on iTunes deals more often. They're better quality images than Amazon or Netflix after all. The "movie of the week" changes...uh... weekly (you might have deduced that) but we're not sure how short the deal period is on their other 99¢ deals and there's quite a lot of goodies right now if you want to program your own mini-fest. Here are a few things that caught my eye from their rental bargain bin...

Roseanne's Return. And Other Stories

Time for a link roundup so recent news doesn't entirely escape us...

movies
AV Club Phantom Thread deleted scene -- an actual food fight between Cyril and Reynolds! Daniel and Lesley are clearly enjoying themselves
• IndieWire March Madness movie brackets. This A24 one is a nightmare. How to vote against so many great movies?
THR Hugh Jackman's next two projects are The Front Runner and Bad Education (despite the familiar famously queer titles I'm disappointed to say that neither of those are adaptations of famous gay love stories or drag Almodovar movies.)

More after the jump including Cameron Diaz, Roseanne, Broadway movie adaptations, Ben Affleck, and more...
