Coming Soon Have you heard that Brie Larson and Emilia Clarke are the two finalists for the role of Sarah Connor in a Terminator reboot? Allow me to dry heave a little at the idea of rebooting a series that has already had three lives and whose concept allows for sequels on end without pretending the (great) originals never happened. Ugh! Normally I'd root for my favorite actresses to get whatever parts they wanted but I'm hoping Brie finds something else instead. She's too good to waste on another tired 'no new ideas' franchise.
Finally...
FWIW, Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street was widely seen by critics on both coasts today, all three hours of it. Some onliners immediately broke the embargo (sigh) but I play the rules. Sure it costs me, but what can you do? I actually like embargos. They give you time to sit with a movie and consider before mouthing off. But it's definitely... um... a talking point. The only thing I'll say for now is that I was so proud of Margot Robbie for shaking off whatever dullness clung to her beauty in "Pan Am" (remember that show?) and really going for it. This is a hungry performance and Hollywood will surely reward her with a buffet of new roles to feast on. The competition for 'Hot Young Actress I Wish I Could Sleep With' critics org prize (commonly known as Best Supporting Actress... but critics can be so transparent) just got stiffer.

I keep not wanting to see Wolf, because 3 hours long, and it's Scorsaprio... But then I'm reminded Jean Dujardin is in it, and thusly shall I see it.
I don't care if it is nominated for multiple Oscars, it's Scorsese. He almost always gives us something worth watching and cares about the way his films look, too. And there are always references to other films buried in his movies. DiCaprio seems tailor made for this part, too.

Oh boy, Nathaniel, that last paragraph was shades of Sasha Stone. Just kidding, that last sentence made me laugh.
Who would think of all the actresses in Pan Am that Margot Robbie and Kelli Garner (She was in The Aviator) played opposite of Leo but not Christina Ricci?
Jennifer Lawrence is not in trouble with Robbie's potential rise. Lupita Nyong'o is not in trouble. Julia Roberts is probably not in trouble. Oprah, however.......
I don't think there was anything remotely dull about Margot Robbie in Pam Am. I watched the failed show's two or three episodes because of her. I knew, watching her, that it wouldn't be long 'till before Hollywood came knocking.
And now it's only a matter of time before she blows up - explodes all over our cinema screens, our TVs, our PCs, our iPads and our iPhones. And who better to flip the switch than Scorsese?.
(Even though Scorsese hasn't been interesting since 1999's Bringing Out The Dead.)

CMG, I agree... Oprah feels very vulnerable. Probably because so many great performances finally came along and hers doesn't seem as competitive.
I had a feeling you may have been underestimating Robbie, though I can't blame you based on what Pan Am showed us. There was something about her in the trailer that made me think she could be a pleasant surprise. I can't wait to read your full thoughts on this and American Hustle.
